The best page builder plugin for WordPress (2020) - Elementor
Namaste friends and freelancers. I hope you are doing well and keeping safe and fit in this COVID-19 situation. It should be our top priority at present.
As you may already know, I have been building WordPress websites professionally over the years, and presently it has become an integral part of what I do online.
This portfolio website is helping me to reach out to more prospects and show them what I can build for them using WordPress and Elementor Page Builder plugin.
Now, a common question that I often get is why do I use Elementor and not the other page builders that are there in the market, some of which are present even from the time before Elementor came in.
It is a common but very justified question, I believe. If I am making your website, you must know what I am going to use to build it and probably, why.
In this article today, let me tell you why I want to use Elementor for all my WordPress websites. I will tell you why I think that Elementor is the best page builder plugin for WordPress available in the market as of now.
I hope I will be able to answer your common queries. If you want to ask something specific about working with Elementor, please feel free to comment below.
WordPress has evolved over the years, and it has brought along many changes in the last few updates too. Currently, I guess the WordPress version is 5.4.1, which is an extremely different upgrade from the previous one.
WordPress uses the block editor by default, which means that the entire page can be built or edited block by block.
You can imagine WordPress as a canvas of sections having columns and multiple rows within each column. When you design a page on WordPress, you fill up these rows, columns, and sections in turn.
The default block editor helps you do that too. It means that you can start building your website out of the box, right after installing WordPress in your hosting space.
While the default block editor, also known as Gutenberg editor, does a great job, it also has many limitations.
These limitations may not be visible to you as a novice WordPress designer, as you may not have known the various other options that custom page builder plugins give you.
There are a plethora of page builder plugins available for WordPress right now. I have also shared a list of the Top 10 Page Builder Plugins for WordPress earlier in this blog.
Among all these, I find the Elementor Page Builder plugin to be the best because of the following reasons:
- Very easy to learn
- The free version is enough
- Great community
- Supports top themes
- Affordable upgrade
Now, let me explain the above points in brief.
Elementor is probably the easiest page builder plugin out there. It is effortless to learn the simple user interface where you just drag and drop elements onto your page and start building it from the very first minute.
I can tell you this because I have learned and mastered Elementor in a short span, and within about two years, I was able to build professional websites and sell those to my clientele from around the world.
Some time ago, I even published a complete course on Building stunning web pages using Elementor, which can pull a beginner to an intermediate level within a week. The course is compelling and has helped many students who have implemented the learnings in their projects.
If you are on a limited budget and you can live only with essential design elements, the free version of Elementor is going to be enough for you. You do not need the Elementor Pro.
Also, along with some additional plugins which are specifically developed to be used with Elementor, you can add advanced features to your website for free.
The course that I have mentioned above also proves this fact. The entire online course is built using the free version of Elementor.
Having said so, the advanced features of Elementor, which you can find only in the Elementor Pro version are worth too. You will be delighted for every penny that you spend. I will get to that shortly.
The Elementor community is just fabulous. There are many times when you would want to know something quickly, and you can just go to their Facebook group and ask a question. More often than not, you will get excellent answers rapidly.
Along with that, the community of independent WordPress plugin and theme developers are also making many assets keeping Elementor in mind.
As mentioned above, you will find a lot of additional plugins that would work seamlessly with Elementor and help you add advanced and extended features to your website for free.
It is one of the most important reasons that I chose to work with Elementor as my preferred WordPress Page Builder plugin.
Elementor supports the top WordPress themes. Themes like OceanWP, Astra, GeneratePress, Hestia, Phlox, and Zakra are supported by Elementor, and they work very well together.
A couple of themes, like Hello and Layers, are said to be developed, keeping the only Elementor in mind. Recently, I like the Kadence theme, which has its advantages too.
Elementor took the market share by offering extended support to the top themes, and probably this was the reason that most top WordPress designers started using Elementor.
On top of that, the themes also reciprocated and started suggesting and recommending Elementor as their preferred page builder plugin.
A combined effort by both the theme (and plugin) developers and Elementor has pulled it to the top of the list. And I think Elementor deserves every bit of it.
Before telling you how affordable the upgrade is, let me tell you about how amazing it is.
Elementor Pro adds excellent extended features and advanced elements at your disposal to use all over your blog or website.
Using Elementor Pro, you can completely modify any given theme. Many Elementor enthusiasts will tell you that you do not even need a theme if you have Elementor Pro with you, which is right.
You can build custom headers and footers, change the default color schemes, add animation and even design the blog page and sidebars using Elementor Pro.
It has a wide range of additional elements that can give your website a professional touch, which can make a difference.
Yes, I can still assure you that you can do a lot with the free version of Elementor and the additional plugins, but using Elementor Pro can make your life much more comfortable.
It is a separate plugin that you can install on top of the Elementor free version.
In my course, there is a dedicated segment where I have talked about the various options and features of Elementor Pro. Many students have purchased Elementor Pro after watching those course lectures.
